Blog: Dragon Slayers

March 17, 2026

Genesis reveals how the world is actually a world of gardens, dragons, dragon slayers and swords! Satan is called a serpent in Genesis and a dragon in Revelation. What began as a serpent in the Garden becomes a dragon in end. One thing always leads to another, bad and good.

The Bible is the most important book ever written. Genesis 3 is one of its most significant chapters. In Genesis 1 and 2, and God said, everything that he made was good. It only took 3 chapters to ruin everything.

God blessed the world, but we broke the world so there isn’t hope in the world but there is hope for the world. God who rules over the world can fix the mess we made!

Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” ESV

The world is actually a world of gardens, dragons, dragon slayers and swords!

The Word of the Lord, which is given to us in the conversation of prayer, is the sword that cuts off the influence of the enemy in our lives. This is why the enemy HATES and ATTACKS God’s Word always questioning it:

“Did God really say..”

Genesis 3:4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. ESV

The enemy is tempting Eve to question God’s goodness exposing her to this spirit of accusation. Guard your heart! Rehearse God’s Word!

None of us truly understand the importance of developing an intimate relationship with God in His Word. Read it. Study it. Memorize it. Meditate on it.

The world is a world of gardens, dragons, dragon slayers and swords! The Word of the Lord is the sword that cuts off the deception of the enemy in our lives.

Genesis 3:5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” ESV

“God is trying to religiously confine you, but you can come out of that and be woke!”

God said if you eat it you will die. Did they eat it? Did they die? Were they still walking around? They went from truly living to merely existing and now their total focus was on self!

The fallen, human response to sin is to cover it up. They respond by sewing fig leaves together. Fig leaves are the picture of whatever we hide behind to cover our spiritual nakedness and shame. Jesus came to reverse the curse in every way!

The fig tree was the only thing Jesus cursed while on the earth (Matt 21:19).

One of the results of curse of the fall is growth of thorns & thistles from the ground.

Genesis 3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head…17 To Adam he said…Cursed is the ground because of you…18 It will produce thorns and thistles... NIV

Jesus took the thorns on his head as a crown of thorns. The soldiers unknowingly placed the very symbol of the curse on the head of the Redeemer. The crown of thorns became a crown of glory as Jesus identified with the fallen world and reclaimed his rightful dominion reversing mockery into majesty!

Only Jesus can rescue us from sin and introduce us to the process of being restored to God’s original design.

The Fall put enmity between the man and woman. Relationships take a lot of work! It takes a lot of forgiveness and a lot of grace because two sinners are going to hurt each other.

A grain of sand in the eye irritates and if left untreated can cause infection and blindness. In an oyster this same grain of sand causes irritation and even a wound but it produces a secretion that ultimately forms a pearl. The irritant doesn’t cause the result but reveals the inner properties.

Give God what irritates or even wounds you and see what He will do!

GP2RL: Where are you? Spend some time alone with God this week inviting Him to help see any area God is desiring to address within you.
